The Council is currently replenishing its pool of employment candidates and is seeking expression of interest from qualified applicants for the following positions.

1. Pool Guard

The pool guard is an essential member of the Suva Olympic Pool Team and is responsible for the safety of the pool users and assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of the pool.

Essential Criteria

  1. A pass in Fiji School Leaving Certificate examination.
  2. Certificate in Life Saving Skills.
  3. Certificate in First Aid/CPR.
  4. Confident in applying First Aid/CPR when required.
  5. Attentive to details with good communication and interpersonal/public relations skills.
  6. Familiar with safe handling of pool maintenance and cleaning chemicals.
  7. Two years’ experience in a similar role.
  8. Previous work experience as a lifeguard will be an added advantage.

2. Heavy Goods Driver

The Heavy Goods Driver will be responsible for driving solid waste removal trucks and supervising the collection of garbage from designated areas. The incumbent will ensure that proper collection and handling of garbage bins and dispose off all garbage at Naboro Landfill.

Essential Criteria

  1. Valid Group 6 driving license.
  2. Form Six level education.
  3. Three to four years driving experience at group six level.

3. Health Assistant

The Health Assistant will be responsible for several essential work required to keep Suva clean and avoid public health nuisance criticism from the Suva residents and the public. This will include, but not limited to, removal of solid waste such as kitchen refuse, green waste and white goods, clearing of drains, grass cutting, street sweeping and cleaning of public convenience.

Essential Criteria

  1. Form four level education.
  2. Two to three years’ experience in a similar role.
  3. Physically fit and healthy.
  4. Can-do attitude and ability to work in a team.
