More than just a celebration, the Hibiscus Festival 2025 will carry a powerful and timely theme: “Where Beauty Blooms, Suva Shines.”
The journey towards this grand annual spectacle officially commenced with the launch held today at the SCC’s main office in Suva.
Building upon its rich legacy, the SCC is dedicated to introducing fresh initiatives and enhancing existing attractions. Like previous successful Hibiscus’, the 2025 festival promises an unforgettable experience for both residents and a growing number of international visitors. It remains a crucial avenue for showcasing local craftsmanship, nurturing performing arts and promoting the capital city of Suva as a dynamic cultural hub.
Speaking during the launch, Chief Guest, Honourable Minister for Local Government, Hon. Maciu Nalumisa highlighted the significance of the Hibiscus Festival: “The Hibiscus Festival remains a pillar of cultural pride. It’s more than a festival; it’s a mirror of our diversity, our values and our aspirations as a people. Under the guidance of the Suva City Council and the dedicated Hibiscus Executive Committee, we are excited to announce that the Hibiscus Festival will continue this year with renewed energy, bigger plans, and innovative opportunities.”
Hon. Nalumisa added: “The Ministry of Local Government is proud to offer its full support to this important platform that brings people together, showcases talent and elevates local enterprise. This year, we will continue to use the platform of the Hibiscus Festival to amplify public awareness on key national concerns. We will ensure that every moment of this year’s celebration is also a moment of education, advocacy, and collective responsibility.”
SCC Acting CEO Mr. Tevita Boseiwaqa echoed similar sentiments: “This year’s Hibiscus Festival will continue the legacy of past Hibiscus festivals by celebrating our diverse culture, unity, youth empowerment, and diversity while providing a platform for social dialogue and entertainment. Colorful parades featuring floats, dancers, and traditional groups from different communities will again be a highlight in the Miss Hibiscus 2025 competition. Local bands, choirs, and cultural performers will entertain audiences every night. We invite everyone across Fiji to join us in Suva to celebrate the essence of what the Hibiscus Festival is all about.”
The 2025 festival marks a new chapter, continuing under the auspices of the Suva City Council, and promises to revive the profound spirit of festivity and community that has always defined the Hibiscus Festival.
