Suva City Council Enforces Food Safety Compliance

August 5, 2024The Suva City Council has officially returned several trucks to the Nasinu Town Council, concluding a cost-sharing service agreement that began in 2020. This collaborative effort was instrumental in addressing significant waste management challenges in the Nasinu Area.
For the past four years, Suva City Council provided critical solid waste management services to Nasinu Town Council, assisting in waste collection during a period of substantial backlog.
As part of this successful partnership, a total of 8 trucks and 1 backhoe have been handed back to Nasinu Town Council.
Effective August 1, 2024, Nasinu Town Council has resumed full responsibility for its solid waste management services, enabling Suva City Council to concentrate on its own municipal needs within its boundaries.
This cooperation was vital in overcoming waste management difficulties in Nasinu and highlights the dedication of both councils to maintaining effective municipal services and supporting their communities.
