SCC HOSTS WORKSHOP FOR FOOD & JUICE VENDORS
March 3, 2025The Suva City Council is pleased to announce that Albert Park is back open to the public today, Thursday, 6th March 2025. Acknowledging the Park’s significance as a central recreational hub for Suva residents, the Council remains dedicated to fostering a healthy and active lifestyle by providing well-maintained outdoor spaces for the public.
While the majority of the playing field is now accessible for leisure and fitness activities, Ground One (the area situated directly in front of the main pavilion) will remain temporarily closed. This is due to ongoing maintenance work aimed at restoring and improving the grass to ensure optimal playing conditions in the future.
Suva City Council’s Acting CEO, Mr. Tevita Boseiwaqa, highlighted the Council’s commitment to balancing public accessibility with essential upkeep. “The Council is pleased to reopen Albert Park, allowing residents to enjoy its open spaces again. However, SCC urges the public to remain mindful that maintenance efforts are still in progress at Ground One and kindly ask everyone to respect the restricted area to allow for proper restoration. While this section remains closed for necessary upgrades, we are thrilled that the rest of the park is now available for community use.”
He further emphasized the Council’s long-term vision for Albert Park:
“SCC recognizes the cultural, historical, and recreational importance of Albert Park to the people of Suva. Our dedicated team is working diligently to ensure the park is maintained at the highest standard, offering a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all,” Mr Boseiwaqa added.
The Suva City Council encourages residents to take full advantage of this opportunity to engage in outdoor activities such as jogging, walking, group fitness sessions, and other recreational programs in the open sections of the park.
