TO ALL RATEPAYERS AND RESIDENTS IN THE CITY OF SUVA
FREE CLINIC ON DOG SPAYING & NEUTERING
The Suva City Council in partnership with the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), Animal Health & Production Division of the Ministry of Agriculture and Veterinarians from Charles Stuart University (CSU) in Australia will be conducting a four (4) days “FREE DOG SPAYING & NEUTERING CLINIC” for the residents and ratepayers of the City of Suva.
The Council had come up with this new proactive community based initiative/intervention strategy to improve the service delivery to ratepayers & residents of Suva as well as in a long term to be able to have a sustainable dog control program by inhibiting reproduction of unwanted puppies, etc.
This is part of our concerted effort to control the stray dog population in the City of Suva.
The detail of the said program is outlined below;
- DATE: Tuesday 04th to Friday 07th July, 2017
- TIME: 8.00am to 3.00pm (Daily)
- VENUE: Ministry of Agriculture – Animal Health & Production Division Station, Car Park, Toa Street – Vatuwaqa, Suva
CONDITIONS:
It is important to note the following conditions;
- this clinic is for dogs only ( no cats )
- only “one dog per household” will be allowed for clinic
- service will be on a “first-come-first-serve” basis will strictly apply and only the first incoming thirty (30) dogs will be attended to in a day
- dogs intended for surgery should not be fed on the day confirmed for their operation
- For those dogs without license owners will be required to pay $13.50 and obtain a Dog License at the venue. MOA officials will be around to issue license.
CONSULTATION:
- Some professional advice together with Information & Educational materials on Animal Health, Care Protection will also be available at the site all throughout the program
- Dog Licensing will also be conducted at the venue.
Ratepayers & residents are therefore urged to take advantage of these free services and bring along your domestic dog for desexing by Vet Officers who will be stationed at the venue site during this period.
