This comprehensive upgrade, part of the Council’s Bridge to Bridge project, will primarily focus on essential surface preparation and repainting across various sections of the market.

 

The work is projected to be carried out over the next couple of weeks. To facilitate these essential improvements and ensure the safety of all individuals, certain sections of the Suva Market will be temporarily closed in a phased manner throughout the renovation period.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“The Suva Municipal Market is the heart of our city, a bustling hub of commerce and community. The Council understands the importance of maintaining this vital facility to the highest standards. These works are a continuation of our ongoing efforts to improve the  infrastructure and standard of the venue for our vendors.”

The SCC has proactively engaged with all affected vendors, issuing formal notices last week to inform them of the impending closures. Furthermore, the Council has made provisions to provide alternative selling areas to ensure minimal disruption to their businesses and continued access for the public to fresh produce and goods.

The Suva City Council advises all members of the public visiting the market during this period to exercise caution, strictly adhere to all signage, and respect restricted areas. These measures are paramount for the safety and well-being of everyone.
