Green Waste Collection
The Suva City Council provides its residents with the collection of Green Waste. The Council defines that Green Waste are Biodegradable Waste that can be composed of garden or park waste, such as grass or flower cuttings and hedge trimmings.
Suva City is divided into four (4) Solid Waste Management (SWM) wards that are further divided into 10 sectors. In each sector, a private sector contractor has been appointed on a 4-year contract for collection and transportation of green waste, grass cutting, drain cleaning, and street sweeping. Green waste collection services provided to residents have been reduced to just once a month to encourage composting.
Residents and businesses may also make additional arrangements with one of five private companies for waste collection and transportation.
