Suva City Council Addresses Recent Cyber Breach Swiftly
September 22, 2024The Suva City Council wishes to advise the public that given the current weather conditions safety measures is being enforced to ensure the well-being of all during the ongoing Miss Hibiscus Festival.
Following a meeting with the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) this morning, the Council will continue to review weather forecasts later this evening.
If conditions worsen, the following contingency plans will be put into effect:
- Stall Closures: Vendors will be required to close and vacate their stalls.
- Crowning Ceremony: The ceremony will be relocated to the Civic Centre Auditorium.
- VIP Tent Relocation: The VIP tent will be moved to the lower hall.
SCC Acting CEO Mr. Tevita Boseiwaqa emphasized, “The safety of vendors, patrons, and all attendees remains a top priority for the Council. Our immediate focus is ensuring that everyone is safe and we are working diligently with relevant authorities to manage the situation effectively.”
The Council is working closely with NDMO and other authorities to handle the situation and a comprehensive evacuation plan is in place to ensure a safe and orderly process if necessary.
NDMO is expected to provide updated weather information hourly with forecasts indicating potential further impacts on the area.
